…a way to present laminates at a smaller scale, for scenes to be manageable, while being able to show a variety of textures with patterns remaining visible.
“Building Blocks” was a concept that came about after multiple iterations and discussions with the client and creative partner. The brief was to create a series of images that could be used to as dividers as well as general brand images.
The goal was to try tackling laminates from a different angle—and if it was possible, multiple angles, through multiplanar shapes. The usual ways that a person might experience looking at materials are usually in the form of showrooms or interior images of kitchens, living rooms, etc., Alternatively, from material swatches presented to them by a contractor or designer.
Limited to 10 images covering six main categories of laminate products, six “shape groups” were created to provide separation as well as to allow for variance in compositions. And also allow for opportunities to create tighter compositions (crops).
Additionally, working with more than thirty textures, it was also important to find a way to present laminates at a smaller scale in order for scenes to be manageable, while being able to show a variety of textures at a close enough distance to allow patterns to be visible.
